| Critically acclaimed for her diverse and unique talents, soprano ZOE VANDERMEER was recently heard as soloist in Beethoven's Mass in C with Westchester Oratorio Society, which also featured her in the 'Pie Jesu' from Anthony Newman's Requiem, with the composer at the organ.
Ms. Vandermeer's opera appearances include Mrs. Gobineau in The Medium with Festival Opera of Walnut Creek and Opera da Camera in Berkeley, CA, as well as the Woodbird in Siegfried with Golden Gate Opera. She has performed with opera companies throughout New York City, most notably the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Violetta in La Traviata, Queen of the Night in Die Zauberfloete, Vitellia in La Clemenza di Tito, Adele in Die Fledermaus with Opera Company of Brooklyn and La Fee in Cendrillon with New York Lyric Opera Theatre. Ms. Vandermeer has also been heard as Lakme, Elvira in I Puritani, Konstanze in Die Entfuehrung aus dem Serail, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Mme. Goldentrill in Der Schauspieldirektor, Gilda in Rigoletto, Adele in Die Fledermaus and Oscar in Un Ballo in Maschera.
Also an esteemed composer, Ms. Vandermeer participated in a tour of her one-woman opera If Love Be the Food of Musick, circa 1782, throughout Europe and the United States, including the Glasgow International Early Music Festival, Pollok House National Trust Museum in Glasgow, International Festival de Deia in Mallorca, Spain, New York International Theatre Fringe Festival, Bloomington Early Music Festival, all with Ms. Vandermeer as singer and baroque harpist. Premieres of her other works have garnered critical enthusiasm: The Enchanted Nightingale, with Ms. Vandermeer, Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra, Oakland Symphony Chamber Chorus and the Sonos Handbell Ensemble; In Man's Heart is a Little Room, featuring the soprano with the San Francisco Sinfonietta, and Zoe's Musical Fairy Tale with the San Francisco Concerto Orchestra, in which Ms. Vandermeer sang the role of Goddess of the Deep.
Ms. Vandermeer has recorded for Koch International, Voce Classics and KachinaMusiK. Her solo album Angel's Wine, the Songs of John Dowland, in which she accompanies her singing on baroque triple harp, won 2nd place for Best Classical Album in 2002 by JPF. The album was reviewed by the UK Lute Society Journal as 'a beautiful sounding disc from a highly talented musician.'
Zoe Vandermeer has been a featured guest on Moray Firth Radio Scotland, WFIU Bloomington, Indiana, KPFK Los Angeles, KWMR public radio Point Reyes, California, KVON radio Napa, and she has appeared on Channel 13 television in Walnut Creek.
