I greatly enjoyed hearing Zoe Vandermeer sing the role of La Fee, in a recent New York performance of Cendrillon. Ms. Vandermeer's sound is of such a quality, that I would have expected to hear it a few blocks away at Lincoln Center. There is both a brightness and a dark resonant quality that come through at the same time. Her coloratura passages were delivered with a brilliant, intense, flowing stream of sound, making it worth risking the performance the night before a major hurricane hit Manhattan.
